What is a California Summary Divorce?
A California Summary Divorce is a special process which is available for married couples or domestic partners who meet specific requirements. This is a more streamlined Divorce method which allows for a faster process and less paperwork. In a Summary Divorce, neither party is required to appear in court. At least one of the parties must have lived in California for a minimum of 6 months prior to filing and meet ALL of the below requirements.
If you do not meet one of the above requirements, you will need to do a California Regular Divorce, which can be found here.
